The myth about authenticity

“Just be yourself” is one of the most overused pieces of advice out there. In theory, it sounds simple. In practice, showing up authentically can feel complicated — especially in professional spaces or public platforms.

Many people assume authenticity means total openness: sharing everything, being completely transparent, having no filters. But true authenticity isn’t about telling the world your every thought or exposing every detail of your life.

It’s about showing up in a way that’s aligned with your values, your truth, and your boundaries. It’s being real, but not reckless. Honest, but not overexposed.
